BIO
Nicole McCarthy is an experimental writer|poet|artist from the pacific northwest.
She earned her MFA in Creative Writing & Poetics from the University of Washington Bothell. She was the managing editor for the online literary journal, The James Franco Review, a project focused on promoting visibility for underrepresented writers & narratives.
Her work has been performed and encountered through installation pieces throughout Seattle & Tacoma. She is a recent GAP grant recipient from Artist Trust.
Her written & visual pieces have appeared or are forthcoming in: PANK, Hobart, Glass: A Journal of Poetry, The Offing, Redivider, The Shallow Ends, Punctuate. a Nonfiction Magazine, The Fem Lit Journal, Ghost Proposal, Civil Coping Mechanism's A Shadow Map anthology, the 2018 Best American Experimental Writing anthology from Wesleyan University Press, and more.
Her first book, A SUMMONING, was published with Heavy Feather Review in 2022. She's at work on her second book this year, a bridal horror novel that questions and examines societal expectations of women and bodily autonomy.
